Verdict in Uthra case to be pronounced on Oct 11

KOLLAM: The verdict in the case pertaining to the death of Uthra, who died of snakebite, will be pronounced on October 11. The verdict will be pronounced by Kollam additional sessions court.

Uthra’s husband Sooraj is the lone accused in the case. Uthra died of snakebite on May 7, 2020 and her husband later confessed that he used a viper to kill her. He bought the snake from handler Suresh. Uthra survived his first attempt on March 2.

Her relatives grew suspicious after Uthra was bitten by a snake the second time. They lodged a complaint. Subsequent investigations revealed that it was a murder. Sooraj was arrested on May 24 last year in connection with the case. Suresh turned approver in the case.
