THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Transport Department will put forward a new package for the KSRTC pay revision before the recognized trade unions. Minister Antony Raju will present this in the discussion to be held with the representatives of the organizations today.
As per the current pay revision report prepared by the management, there will be only a slight increase in the current salaries of the employees. Drivers and conductors will get a hike of only Rs 1500-2500. The government must act to revise the salary report prepared under the provisions of the Finance Department.
If the pay hike demanded by the trade unions is implemented, there will be an additional liability of Rs 28 crore. On the other hand, an additional amount of Rs 9.5 crore will be required as per the package prepared by the management. The financial crisis of KSRTC was caused by the crisis in the public transport sector following Covid. For the last one and a half years, the KSRTC has been paying salaries with the help of the government.
