Administration of precaution dose to begin from Monday, no fresh registration needed, online booking to begin on Saturday

NEW DELHI: Administration of precaution dose of Covid vaccines will begin from Monday. The Centre informed that people eligible for precaution dose of COVID will not have to register themselves again on the CoWIN app. They can book online appointments from Saturday evening. Union Health Ministry will release a set of guidelines regarding the precaution dose on Saturday.

In the first phase, the precaution dose will be given to frontline workers, health workers and those over 60 years of age. The precautionary dose of the COVID-19 vaccine that will be given to healthcare workers, frontline workers as well as those aged 60 years and above with comorbidities will be of the same vaccine as was given to them previously.

According to the "Guidelines for COVID-19 vaccination of children between 15-18 years and precaution dose to HCWs, FLWs and 60+ population with comorbidities" issued by the health ministry recently, prioritisation and sequencing of the precaution dose for the beneficiaries would be based on the completion of nine months from the date of administration of the second dose, which is 39 weeks.
