MUMBAI: Lucknow Super Giants star Krunal Pandya has been criticized for kissing Mumbai's batsmen Kieron Pollard on the head as he returned to the pavilion after getting dismissed during an IPL match. The incident took place in the last over of the Mumbai innings. Pollard tried to hammer Krunal over the ropes but ended up being caught by Deepak Hooda.
Pollard has been not in a good form for a while, on his way back to the pavilion, bowler Krunal Pandya ran towards the Mumbai batsman and kissed him. Pandya was Pollard's former Mumbai Indians teammate. Pandya may have done so out of that connection.
But on Twitter, Krunal Pandya's action did not generate a good response. Critics in a tweet said Pollard should have slapped Krunal Pandya as Will Smith did at the Oscars. Another reaction was how Pandya was able to do this to a man who had lost eight matches.
Mumbai Indians have lost their eighth consecutive match in the IPL. Batting first, the Lucknow Super Giants scored 168 for six in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, Mumbai could only manage 132 for eight.
