Govt help for Thrissur Pooram for first time in history, Rs 15 lakh sanctioned

THRISSUR: The government has sanctioned Rs 15 lakh for the conduct of Thrissur Pooram. This is the first time the government is providing financial assistance for Pooram. The government had decided to hold this year's Pooram adhering to Covid protocol with all the rituals. The devaswoms demanded the government to bear the cost of the barricades as part of security. They also made it clear that they could not bear the expenses because of the severe financial crisis. Following that, Devaswom Minister K Radhakrishnan and Ministers K Rajan and R Bindu said the issue will be considered.
