Accused in criminal cases found lying dead in waterlogged area; murder suspected

PATHANAMTHITTA: A man, who was an accused in several criminal cases, was found lying dead in a waterlogged area in Pathanamthitta. The incident took place at Kunnikkuzhy in Pandalam. The deceased has been identified as Mangaram native Varghese Philip aka Mutta Varghese. Police suspect that Varghese was murdered.

It was some locals who discovered the body at a stream near Kunnikuzhy at around 7 am. Following this, the police arrived at the spot and examined the body and confirmed that it was Varghese.

Sources said that Varghese was involved in a brawl with some of the locals the other day. Varghese's brother sustained injuries during the brawl. That is why the police are suspecting that Varghese was murdered. Fingerprint experts arrived on the scene and collected evidence. The body will be handed over to the relatives after post-mortem.
