How will the buses run if all the money is spent on salaries? Govt can’t do anything beyond this, says Antony Raju

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: If all of KSRTC’s income is spent on salary, then how will the buses run, asked Transport Minister Antony Raju. No government will be able to completely pay KSRTC’s salary. It is the government that gives pension. Around Rs 30 crores were given as temporary relief. The government cannot do anything beyond this, said Antony Raju.

This is not happening because of the mismanagement of the management or the employees. It is the management’s job to handle everything in accordance with the revenue and expense. It is not the minister’s job, he said. ‘I had voiced against launching strikes that trouble people. Unions would have their own interests. Likewise, the government has to protect the people’s interests. If people are troubled, then we cannot just stand there watching’, he said. The minister also said that three buses will be handed over to Manacaud Government TTI as part of the project to convert abandoned buses into classrooms.
