THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC president K Sudhakaran MP said that the Chief Minister should explain why the government is not ready to appoint a new person to replace the special prosecutor who resigned in the actress assault case.

Two special prosecutors have resigned during this time. It's been months since the resignation of the second special prosecutor, the government has not yet appointed a new one. Sudhakaran also said that if the government had been with survivor, then they would have appointed a new prosecutor soon after the resignation.

The hasty attempt to close the case by filing an unprepared chargesheet is suspicious. The government has decided to issue a final report without conducting a proper investigation based on new evidence. The government's action denies justice to the survivor.

The CM should first explain why the government was not willing to ask for more time to investigate the case under special circumstances, even though the court had asked it to complete further investigation and to submit a report this month. The government only did so when strong criticism rose against them. Sudhakaran said that CPM secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, LDF convener EP Jayarajan and minister Antony Raju should publicly apologize for insulting the actress.

There will be strong protests if there is a conscious move on the government's part to subvert the case. At one point, the case was in the right direction, but it changed when the investigation turned to some other persons. The police themselves have told the court that they want to question some high-ranking people involved in the case. Why is the CM and the police afraid of them? Sudhakaran also said that the Chief Minister should not forget the allegation that the case has gone astray due to a recent appointment in the Chief Minister's office.
