ABU DHABI: The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has announced midday break in the country as the heat intensifies in the UAE. The midday break is for three months from June 15 to September 15. The ban is on work performed under the sun and in open places including construction sites.
Those working in areas exposed to direct sunlight are allowed to rest from 12.30 pm to 3 pm. Such a decision is made to ensure a safe work environment and to avoid the risks of working at high temperatures.
Midday break has been allowed continuously in the UAE for the last 18 years. A fine of up to 5,000 dirhams per employee will be imposed on companies that violates the law. The maximum fine for each such company is 50,000 dirhams.
