MUMBAI: The Gujarat anti-terrorist squad (ATS) team on Saturday arrived at activist Teesta Setalvad's residence in Mumbai and took her into custody. Teesta was then taken to Ahmedabad.
Teesta's advocate said that she was taken into custody on charges of forgery, conspiracy and other sections of the IPC. Earlier, it was reported that Teesta had been taken into custody for questioning in a foreign fund case involving her NGO.
Teesta was taken into custody hours after Union Home Minister Amit Shah told a news agency that Teesta's NGO had provided baseless information to the police in connection with the 2002 Gujarat riots.
