THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There will be a discussion on gold smuggling in the Kerala Assembly today. The opposition’s adjournment motion will be discussed after suspending the assembly proceedings for two hours from 1 pm. Shafi Parampil MLA from the opposition issued the notice for an adjournment motion this morning. This is an issue that Kerala and the general public want to know. The chief minister had informed the house that he was ready to discuss the issue for the knowledge of the public. The government agreed to discuss the motion to avoid accusations of absconding from it.
Only selected MLAs from the ruling and opposition fronts will take part in the discussion. So, the assembly is expected to witness some major uproar in the assembly. The chief minister yesterday replied only to some of the allegations levelled by Swapna Suresh, accused in the gold smuggling case, at the press meet yesterday.
