KOZHIKODE: The Kozhikode District Sessions Court made a strange remark in its verdict while granting anticipatory bail to the accused, a writer and cultural activist Civic Chandran, in the case of sexual assault. The court said the complaint will not stand as the dress worn by the complainant was sexually provocative.

From the pictures submitted by Civic Chandran in the court along with the bail application, it is clear that the dress code of the complainant was sexually provocative. The court expressed disbelief that the 74-year old disabled accused could forcefully put the complainant in his lap and press her breasts.

The young writer complained that Civic Chandran tried to sexually abuse her on February 18, 2020 at a deserted place in Nandi beach. Another writer had also complained that Civic Chandran tried to sexually abuse her when she came for a book launch on April 17 in 2021.
