Sanju Samson says that he is proud to be a Malayali and as a Malayali cricketer representing the country. Sanju was talking to former Indian all-rounder Rohan Gavaskar in an interview with Sony Sports ahead of the third ODI against Zimbabwe. The cricketer's response was when Rohan Gavaskar mentioned that he had seen Sanju's fans cheering for him during matches in Ireland and Zimbabwe.
'Wherever I play, Malayalis from the gallery are calling me 'Chetta' and as a Malayali I feel so proud during that moment. As a Malayali playing for India, it is a great joy that so many people love me, but at the same time, this love creates pressure to some extent. But I enjoy this kind of pressure. I am often surprised by the fan support I get because I have only played five or six ODIs for India.
I am trying to be a regular player in Indian team. I have given my best in domestic cricket for the past five or six years although I knew I would not be a part of the team and that is now reaping the benefits.', said the cricketer. Sanju added that IPL captaincy has changed his mindset about cricket and IPL has also influenced his game in a big way.
"Proud to be a Malyali I can see a lot of people calling me Cheta" 😀
