NEW DELHI: It is reported that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking money from his own savings for food expenses. This is clarified by the recently released report under the Right to Information Act.
The RTI states that Modi bears his own food expenses and does not spent money for this from the government's exchequer. The Prime Minister's Office informed about this in a query through RTI. The disclosure was made by PMO Secretary Binod Bihari Singh. The Prime Minister's residence PM Avas is guarded by the Central Public Works Department and a special security team is in charge of protecting the vehicles (SPG). There were also questions about the Prime Minister's salary, but no clear answer was given citing the rules.
Earlier reports had surfaced that Modi's salary is Rs 2 lakh. Modi keeps most of his salary in savings accounts and fixed deposits in banks. He has investments in National Savings Certificates, Life Insurance Policies and LT Infrastructure Bonds. Modi has not bought any land or vehicles since becoming the Prime Minister. According to last year's figures, the value of Modi's earnings stands at Rs 3.07 crore.
