Ukraine war, future of 2,738 medical students from Kerala remains uncertain

kk

MALAPPURAM: The studies of 2,738 medical students from Kerala who were studying in Ukraine has become uncertain. There are 889 first year students. After November 18, 2021, the National Medical Commission (NMC) does not issue permission to transfer studies of students in private medical universities to other universities. At the same time, some universities in Ukraine have announced that they can set up facilities in other countries. But if they join there without obeying NMC, students cannot write FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Examination) or work in India. This also worries the students.

Those admitted before November 18, 2021 can transfer to other universities. The problem is finding universities with the same syllabus and exam pattern. It is also difficult to academic notes due to war. The first year students are afraid of having to take the NEET exam and study again. The medical studies in Ukraine costs around Rs 40 lakh.
