Customs nab Malappuram native with gold in rectum and two persons waiting outside airport with oil

KOCHI: In a major gold bust in Nedumbassery, Customs Preventive Commissionerate seized gold worth fifty lakh rupees during a lightning inspection. Customs first caught those who came to receive gold in an unusual manner. From them, the inspection reached the person who brought the gold. 1.071 kg of gold was found from Fayas, a native of Malappuram, who arrived on a Gulf Air flight from Jeddah to Kochi, The gold mixture was hidden in the rectum in the form of capsules.

Two natives of Kondotty were waiting in a car outside the airport to receive the gold from Fayaz. On checking them, Rs 82,000 and oil were seized. The oil was to take the gold from the rectum. Rs 82,000 was kept as a fee for smuggling the gold. Following a tip-off received by the Customs, the inspection was strengthened outside the airport as well.
