Bomb hurled at lorry in Mattannur; hartal supporters crossing line

KANNUR: In a shocking incident, a group of hartal supporters hurled a petrol bomb at a goods lorry in Mattannur during the Popular Front hartal. The incident took place at Palottupalli in Mattannur. The windscreen of the lorry was broken in the attack. No one was injured in the incident. The lorry was going from Iritty to Thalassery with goods when the attack took place.

Police have launched an investigation after recording the statement of the lorry driver. Similarly, a bomb was hurled at the RSS office in Mattannur today afternoon.

The hartal called by the Popular Front of India to protest against the arrest of national and state leaders by the NIA had resulted in many untoward incidents, including state-wide closure of shops and pelting of stones on KSRTC buses.
