Retired Farmer Rashed Mangakop is 78 years old. The bride, Halima Abdullah, is 18 years old. The two first met at a dinner party in Cagayan province. Friendship later turned into love. It was not an arranged marriage and the couple came together "purely out of love". 'The groom is my father's brother. The bride's father also works for my uncle. That's how the two meet at a dinner party.'-Rashed's son-in-law Ben explains. Despite the age difference of 60 years, it was not a barrier to marriage. Halima's family members say that the love between the two is great and hence they agreed to the marriage.
