NEW DELHI: Ameerul Islam, the accused in the sensational Jisha murder case, has approached the Supreme Court demanding that he should be transferred from the jail in Kerala to the jail in Assam. In his petition, Ameerul Islam said that he is a native of Assam and that his family members and relatives are in Assam. He is demanding that he should be transferred to a jail in Assam as his poor family members are finding it difficult to come and visit him in the jail in Kerala. He is currently serving sentence in Viyyur Jail.

Ameerul Islam was convicted of murdering Perumbavoor native Jisha, a law student, by trespassing at her house. The incident took place on April 28, 2016, at around 8 pm. He was sentenced to death by the court. The post-mortem report stated that Ameerul had brutally raped Jisha and stabbed her with a knife.
