COIMBATORE: Five people have been arrested in the Coimbatore blast which claimed a life. The arrested are Firoz Ismail, Nawaz Ismail, Muhammed Dalha, Muhammed Riyas and Muhammed Azharuddin of G M Nagar in Ukkadam. They had close connection with Jamesha Mubeen, who was killed in the blast. The investigation team has received information that they were involved in collecting explosives and in planning the blast.

The cylinder explosion in the car happened near Kottai Eswaran Temple in Ukkadam on Sunday at 4 am. The cylinder in the car exploded. Jamesha Mubeen (25) is a native of Ukkadam and an engineering graduate. Mubeen was interrogated by the NIA in 2019 for alleged links with the ISIS. The NIA had also raided his house. The search conducted in his house found a huge quantum of explosives. So the investigation team suspect the blast to be a suicide attack.
