Groom abandoned at wedding venue as bride and family disappear, police launch investigation

LUCKNOW: The groom and his relatives who came for the wedding returned without finding the bride and her family. The incident happened to a youth named Sonu from Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh. The bride was Kajal from Lucknow. According to the address given by the girl's father, Sonu came to Rahimabad for the wedding. But the youth was unable to find the exact place of marriage.

Sonu said that he tried to contact Kajal and her father on phone throughout the night but the phone was switched off. The young man informed the police that when he inquired with the local residents, he came to know that no such person was staying there. Sonu and Kajal fell in love in Chandigarh and the duo decided to get married. The youth contacted Kajal's father Sheeshpal over phone and fixed the date of marriage on July 11.

Sonu said that he had spoken to Kajal on phone till July 10. Kajal informed that all the preparations for the wedding have been completed and all the relatives have reached home. She said that she will reach the wedding venue with celebrations and will not be able to talk anymore. The youth tried to contact Kajal after that but to no avail. Sonu said that he reached the said place but no one was there.

Lucknow police have registered a case in the incident. The police informed that an investigation has been started to trace Kajal and her family.
