Fever claims three more lives in Kerala; confirmed cholera cases reach 10

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Aggravating the concerns, three people died of fever in the state on Thursday. The fever cases are alarmingly on the rise while the health department also reported one death due to jaundice.

A total of 13196 people sought treatment in hospitals due to fever on Thursday. Of these, 145 people have been diagnosed with dengue fever, 416 people are under treatment with dengue fever symptoms and 42 people have confirmed H1N1 fever. 10 people were also confirmed with rat-bite fever. The health department has issued a warning concerning the spread of the disease.

The spread of cholera in the state is also causing concern. Six more confirmed cases of cholera were reported on Thursday. With this, the number of confirmed cases has increased to 10. Cholera was confirmed among the inmates of a care home in Neyyattinkara. Meanwhile, the source of the disease has not yet been identified.
