THRISSUR: The investigation in the Coimbatore blast case will also be conducted in Kerala. The investigation team from Coimbatore reached Thrissur on the suspicion that Mubeen, who was killed in the blast, has a close association with Muhammed Azharuddin, who is in Viyyur Jail. The information was collected by the NIA officials investigating the blast case and the investigation team of the Tamil Nadu Police.

Azharuddin, who is presently in Viyyur Central Jail was arrested by the NIA in 2019. The investigating officers suspect that Mubeen, who was killed in the blast, had come to meet him in jail. To confirm this, the officials who came to the jail in Thrissur checked Azharuddin’s visitors list and sought information from him. Azharuddin was arrested in the investigation conducted by the NIA in the Easter blasts in Sri Lanka. Azharuddin was caught after found that he was in contact with Zahran Hashim, the mastermind of the Easter blasts. The investigating agencies are probing whether Mubeen was aiming to carry out explosions on Diwali like what happened on Easter in Sri Lanka. The investigation is moving in this manner after explosives were found from Mubeen's house.

Meantime, five people have been arrested in connection with the blast. Firoz Ismail, Nawaz Ismail, Muhammed Dalha, Muhammed Riyas and Muhammed Azharuddin of G M Nagar in Ukkadam were arrested. They were closely related to Jamesha Mubeen, who was killed in the blast. The investigation team has received information that they were involved in collecting explosives and in planning the blast.
