Gas agency owner threatened: police register case against CITU leaders

kk

VYPIN: The Munambam police have registered a case against about ten CITU workers, including the leaders, for allegedly threatening, assaulting and insulting a gas agency owner, a Scheduled Caste woman, by calling her caste name. The CITU workers allegedly insulted the woman while staging a protest in front of the A and A Gas Agency in Kuzhuppilly demanding the regularisation of four temporary workers.

A and A agency had appointed four people temporarily when it temporarily took over the distribution of cylinders of another gas agency. The complaint of the agency owner is that after the temporary agency ceased to exist, these four persons formed a union, demanded the agency to regularise them and resorted to violence.

Meanwhile, CITU district council member and Kerala Oil and Gas Workers' Union (CITU) Vypin area president AP Prinil said that the complaint is a fake one. The agency owner has filed a petition in the High Court seeking police protection.
