College of Engineering Trivandrum becomes owner of one more patent

College of Engineering Trivandrum has received a patent for the invention of 'Coir Fibre - Latex Composite Sheets' (Patent# 409660 granted on 21-10-2022 wef 19-05-2018 by The Patent Office, Govt of India). The research work leading to the invention was carried out in the Department of Civil Engineering, College of Engineering Trivandrum.

The sheets can be used as a separator in low-volume roads during construction between the soil subgrade and base course. The sheets will not only provide strength to the roads but also allow in-plane drainage thus directing water to the side drains.

The work was carried out by Dr Jayasree P K (Professor, CET), Dr K Balan (Former Professor, CET and presently Vice Principal RIET), Sumesh C and Anand C J (Former PG students, CET).
