Sri Lanka cricketer Danushka Gunathilaka arrested for sexual assault

SYDNEY: Sri Lanka cricketer Danushka Gunathilaka, who was with the national squad for T20 World Cup in Australia, was arrested on charges of sexual assault. He was taken into custody by the Sydney police on the complaint lodged by a 29-year-old woman.

The allegation against 31-year-old Danushka is that he sexually assaulted her on November 2. She lodged the complaint the other day. He was arrested soon after their match with England.

The 29-year-old woman met him via an online dating application. They started chatting after that. Her complaint said that he sexually assaulted her last Wednesday at a residence in Rose Bay.

Four charges have been imposed on Dhanushka Gunathilak including having sex without the woman's consent. The Sydney Police said they will investigate the incident in detail.
