Vigilance raid in sub registrar offices across Kerala; bribe money and liquor seized

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The flash inspections by Vigilance continues in the sub registrar offices of the state. During the raid, vigilance caught the agents with bribe money. As part of Operation Punch Kiran, around Rs 1.5 lakh was seized from various districts. Rs 30,000 was seized from Malappuram and Rs 21,000 from Chathamangalam sub-registrar office in Kozhikode. Vigilance has found out that officials are accepting bribes for land deed registration. The inspection was conducted in 76 selected offices as per the instructions of Vigilance Director Manoj Abraham.

Besides money of Rs 6,240, a bottle of foreign liquor was also seized from the Mattanchery sub-registrar's office. During the raid, it was also noted that the employees in sub registrar office threw away the bribe money when they saw Vigilance officers. Vigilance has also decided to check whether the agents are paying the officials bribes through UPI and online, including Google Pay, after receiving them.
