Quotation to kill wife to get insurance amount of Rs 2 crore, police cracks mystery behind death

JAIPUR: The death of the woman in an accident two months ago has been proved to be a murder plotted by her husband eyeing the insurance amount of crore. Shalu Devi (32) died in an accident that happened near Harmada on the Jaipur-Sikar Road on October 5. A SUV mowed them down when she along with her cousin were going to Samod temple on a bike.

Preliminary investigation mentioned of a road accident. However, the investigation took a dramatic turn 20 days ago. The finding that her death could help her husband Mahesh Chandra get an insurance amount of Rs 1.9 crore turned crucial in the case.

Mahesh had given a amount of Rs 5.50 lakh to the criminal Mukesh Singh Rathore to kill Shalu. He had promised an amount of Rs 10 lakh for the quotation. Chandra took an insurance for Shalu this year even though their marriage strained and they had been living separately since 2017. This led to a suspicion.

Mahesh who decided to eliminate Shalu started speaking to her again after taking the insurance. He went to Shalu’s house in April and told her that he had made a wish at the famous temple in Samod. He asked her to go to the temple 11 times so that his wish could be fulfilled.

This was a drama to kill her. Soon after Shalu left for the temple, Mahesh stood outside and gave signal to the quotation team. Soon a speeding SUV ran over her.

The couple got married in 2015. They have a daughter. She had lodged a dowry harassment complaint against Mahesh in 2019. Mahesh Chandran, Mukesh Singh Rathore were arrested along with Rakesh Kumar and Sonu Singh on charges of conspiracy.
