Left Front abandons Vizhinjam campaign march after strike was called off

ll

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Left Front has abandoned the Vizhinjam campaign march scheduled for tomorrow in support of the Vizhinjam port construction project. The LDF took the decision after the Vizhinjam strike was settled in a discussion between the Chief Minister and the strike committee. The inauguration of the march took place earlier today in Varkala. The march was scheduled to begin tomorrow.

After the discussion with the Chief Minister, the strike committee said that they had made some compromises to put an end to the 140-day-long Vizhinjam strike. The committee, which rejected the offer of Rs 2,500 from Adani's CSR fund, said that the government itself should pay Rs 5500 as monthly rent to rehabilitated families.
