THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actor Indrans has come out with a response to the remark made by minister VN Vasavan in the Kerala Assembly. Talking to a media outlet, Indrans said he was not offended or saddened by the minister's remark.
"Everyone in India has the right to say whatever they want. The minister's remark does not sadden me. I am not as tall as Amitabh Bachchan. His clothes won't fit me. It's a truth. I'm an old person. Shouldn't the truth be said as it is? I don't feel any body shaming in this. I am convinced of what I am," Indrans said.
Earlier, a controversy had erupted after minister Vasavan made a remark on Indrans while speaking in the assembly. The minister made the remark while speaking about the current situation of the Congress. He said that Congress, which was once as tall as Amitabh Bachchan, has now become the size of Malayali actor Indrans. Following this, Opposition leader VD Satheeshan pointed out that it is a body-shaming remark and demanded to withdraw the statement. Speaker AN Shamseer later informed that Minister Vasavan submitted a letter stating that he is withdrawing the statement and requesting not to include the remark in the assembly records.
