Rains to intensify in eight districts of the state in coming hours, water level rises in Mullaperiyar

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department has warned that various districts in the state are likely to receive heavy rainfall in the coming hours. According to the notification issued after 4 pm, IMD warns that there is a possibility of rain accompanied by thunder at isolated places in the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Wayanad in the next 3 hours.

Meanwhile, no rain warning has been issued in any district in the state today. Alerts have not been declared in any district. IMD has informed that there is no disruption to fishing on the coasts of Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep.

At the same time, the water level of Mullaperiyar dam rose to 141.05 feet due to heavy rains in the catchment areas. It is raining heavily in the Thekkady region. This is the reason for the rise in water flow in the dam. Tamil Nadu has issued a second warning to Kerala as the water level crossed 141 feet. The water level of the dam crossed 141 feet by this morning.
