BANGALURU: Two students have been suspended for kissing and hugging each other at a book release function attended by Karnataka opposition leader, Siddaramaiah. The incident occurred at Gurudev College in Belthangady, Karnataka during the book release of former MLA Vasantha Bangera.

After the visuals of this went viral on social media, the incident is being discussed widely. The kissing incident is leading to communal protests as the boy is from Muslim community and the girl is a Hindu. There are reports that some Hindu activists have threatened the boy citing love jihad.

After online campaigns began against the students, the college authorities have given complaint to the police. The authorities have also suspended the students after it came to its attention. However, Hindu activists are claiming that only the Hindu girl was suspended. The police said that they have begun an investigation after receiving the complaint.
