pets

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: From now on, our furry friends will get medical attention right at the doorstep. 29 mobile clinics have been set up for this purpose. Union Animal Husbandry and Dairy Minister Parshottam Rupala will inaugurate the project tomorrow at the Travancore International Convention Centre.

There will be two such clinics in each district except in Idukki, where there are three. The mobile clinics in Thiruvananthapuram are at Nedumangad and Parassala. The project is being implemented at a cost of Rs 3 crores with the cooperation of the central government.

How it works
On calling the toll-free number 1962, the call received at the centralized centre in Thiruvananthapuram will be forwarded to the caller's nearest mobile clinic through the GPS system. Mobile clinics are open from 1 pm to 8 pm. For the rest of the time, the services of doctors appointed by Milma, doctors on night duty at veterinary hospitals and forest doctors will be utilized.

There will be a veterinary doctor, para veterinary staff and an attendant cum driver in a mobile clinic.

Inauguration

Union Minister V Muraleedharan will release toll-free number 1962 on the occasion. Minister J Chinchurani will preside. MPs Shashi Tharoor, Binoy Viswam, AA Rahim, PT Usha, Kadakampally Surendran MLA, District Collector Geromic George, District Panchayat President D Suresh Kumar, Animal Husbandry Department Director Dr A Kaushigan and others will participate.
