Attempts suicide to threaten husband, condition of pregnant woman serious, efforts on to take baby out

PARASSALA: The condition of the pregnant woman who attempted suicide to threaten her husband, a jawan, continues to be critical. The medical college hospital authorities said that all efforts are being taken to take the baby out lying dead for three days.

Arunima (27) of Parassala attempted suicide by dousing kerosene on her body. Only her husband Ajay Prakash was at home at the time of the incident. She took the drastic step when her husband was about to return after vacation. When Arunima, who sustained burns, was first taken to a private hospital, her husband told them that the accident happened in a gas explosion. When her condition worsened, she was shifted to the medical college. Following the incident, the police sealed her house in Parassala. Many including the magistrate had recorded her statement. Her father said that she committed the act to threaten her husband.
