NEW YORK: A policeman in New York has been suspended for brutally punching a 14-year-old schoolgirl. The incident took place in Staten Island. Nicholas Scalzo, a police officer in New York City, was suspended after a video showing him punching the schoolgirl circulated online. Huge protests had erupted in the region over the policeman's action after the video surfaced online. The video shows Nicholas repeatedly punching one of the girls on the head several times.
Police officers, including Nicholas, arrived at the spot to resolve a fight that broke out between two girls. While trying to control the students, Nicholas became enraged and started repeatedly punching the fourteen-year-old student. Although other students tried to stop the police officer, he went on to repeatedly punch her.
Several people, including the Mayor of New York City, came out criticizing the policeman after the video came out. Following this, it was announced that the policeman has been suspended from service.
