No representative from royal family to accompany Thiruvabharana procession this time

PATHANAMTHITTA: There will be no representative from the royal family this time along with the procession carrying the Thiruvabharanam (sacred jewellery off the presiding deity). There is no representative as they have defilement (pula) following the death of a member of the royal family. Rohini Naal Rukmini Thampuratty (94) of Kaippuzha Malikayil of Pandalam palace passed away.


The procession will reach Puthiyakavu Devi Temple and rest there this evening. They will camp at Laha Forest department’s sathram on the night of January 13. The team leaving on January 14 will climb Neelimala and go to Sannidhanam. The devaswom board authorities will receive the procession when it reaches Saramkuthy. The melshanti will receive the Thiruvabharanapedakam from the group that climbs the 18 steps of the temple and will take it to the sreekovil and offer it to the idol.
