KOCHI: For a second straight day, independent MLA PV Anwar was quizzed by the enforcement directorate in the Kochi office. Yesterday, the Nilambur MLA was questioned by ED for the dubious money Anwar received for a crusher deal in Balthagandy during 2016. Yesterday, Anwar came out of the ED office perturbed and got irked with the media persons surrounding him with questions. To the media queries, the MLA replied a wry one saying he was asked about the India-Pakistan football match.
The case was registered as per the complaint of Salim Naduthodi of Pattarkadavu in Malappuram. According to the complainant, Anwar cajoled him to join the crusher business offering a modest 10% share in the crusher unit in Balthagandy in Karnataka. Salim got cheated and lost Rs 50 lakhs only to realize later that no such quarry existed. Previously, the Crime branch registered a case against Anwar and now ED is dusting up the old case that has been registered long back.
