Flyer caught in Nedumbassery with gold worth Rs 38 lakh hidden in rectum using condoms

KOCHI: Customs seized gold worth Rs 38 lakh from Nedumbassery International Airport. The gold was seized from a Palakkad resident Mohammad, who came from Dubai. 833 grams of gold in the form of paste was concealed in his rectum using condoms.

At the same time, in a major drug bust at Karipur airport, gold worth Rs 3 crore was seized. Rs 55 lakh worth of gold was found hidden in a computer printer. Abdul Ashiq, a native of Malappuram, was arrested in the case.

Ashiq told the customs that the gold smuggling group approached him saying that he would be given a reward of Rs 90,000. Gold was also found in a waste bin in the lavatory of the plane. Customs also arrested Abdul Nishar from Thavanur and Zubair from Koduvally who smuggled gold by hiding it in their body.
