Gujarat Titans shine again, beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets

HYDERABAD: Continuing their stellar form in the IPL season, Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans secured an easy victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Chasing a target of 153 runs, the Titans reached the mark in just 16.4 overs with the loss of three wickets. Despite the early dismissals of star players Jos Buttler and Sai Sudharsan, Hyderabad’s bowlers failed to capitalize.

While chasing 153, Titans lost Sai Sudharsan (5 off 9) and Jos Buttler (0 off 3) by the fourth over, with the team score at just 16. However, a match-winning 90-run partnership for the third wicket between captain Shubman Gill (61* off 43) and Washington Sundar (49 off 29) firmly put Gujarat in control. After Sundar’s dismissal in the 14th over, West Indies player Sherfane Rutherford joined Gill and scored a quick 35* off 16 balls, remaining unbeaten to finish the chase. For Hyderabad, Mohammad Shami took two wickets and Pat Cummins picked up one.

Batting first, Sunrisers Hyderabad could only manage 152 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their 20 overs. Mohammed Siraj continued his impressive bowling form with a four-wicket haul, effectively restricting SRH’s scoring. Nitish Kumar Reddy was Hyderabad’s top scorer, making 31 runs off 34 balls.

Openers Travis Head (8 off 5) and Abhishek Sharma (18 off 16) failed to provide a strong start once again. Ishan Kishan, who had scored a century in the season opener, was dismissed for just 17 off 14 balls, continuing his lackluster form. Other batters contributed as follows: Heinrich Klaasen (27 off 19), Aniket Verma (18 off 14), Kamindu Mendis (1 off 5). Captain Pat Cummins (22* off 9) and Mohammad Shami (6* off 2) remained unbeaten at the end.
