WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump has ignited a major political storm by sharing a video showing former President Barack Obama being arrested by FBI agents. The video was posted on Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social.
The 45-second clip begins with Obama stating, “No one is above the law, especially the president.” The footage then transitions into a deepfake-style sequence where Obama is shown being handcuffed by FBI officers, with Trump sitting nearby, smiling. The video ends with a scene of Obama in an orange prison jumpsuit, standing inside a jail cell, while the song YMCA plays in the background. Critics have slammed Trump’s post, calling the video highly irresponsible.
The video was released alongside fresh allegations by Tulsi Gabbard, the current Director of National Intelligence under Trump. Gabbard, a former Democratic Congresswoman and 2020 presidential candidate, claimed that Obama and his top intelligence officials colluded to rig the outcome of the 2016 presidential election.
In a post on X, Gabbard wrote, “Americans will finally understand how a years-long conspiracy was laid to undermine the will of the people and imprison our democratic republic — all to stop Donald Trump.”
