MOSCOW: Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again told Russian President Vladimir Putin that a peaceful resolution must be achieved in Ukraine and the war should end. Modi emphasized that India is willing to help resolve the largest conflict in Europe since World War II. The meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin took place during the 16th BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, which started yesterday.
"We fully support the early restoration of peace and stability. All our efforts give priority to humanity. India is ready to provide all possible support in the times to come," Modi said.
Narendra Modi arrived in Kazan yesterday for a two-day visit to attend the 16th BRICS Summit. The summit ends tomorrow, but Modi will return today.
"The fact that I'm visiting Russia for the second time within three months reflects our profound friendship. During the India-Russia Annual Summit in Moscow in July, cooperation was strengthened in all sectors," Modi stated.
Russian President Putin stated that Russia shares a very close relationship with India and that the friendship has been further strengthened through his meetings with Prime Minister Modi. During his speech, Putin referred to Modi as a "close friend" on multiple occasions.
