Death of Athulya; Husband Satheesh Shankar terminated from job in Dubai

SHARJAH: Satheesh Shankar, husband of Athulya (30), who committed suicide in Sharjah, has been terminated from his job. He was working as a site engineer in a private company in Dubai. The company has informed him in writing about his termination.

Satheesh got the job a year ago. Her had earlier asserted that he draws a salary of Rs 2.5 lakh. The company has informed that the action was taken after considering the complaints filed by Athulya's relatives and after seeing his violent videos. His colleague had told media that Satheesh was warned for coming to office drunk. He had created problems abroad.

The Thekkumbhagam police have registered a case of murder against Satheesh on the complaint of her mother Thulasi Bhai. A special police team is investigating her death.

The investigation is being led by Chavara SHO S Sreekumar. Efforts are being made to bring Satheesh back to his hometown. The police team led by Thekkumbhagam sub inspector L Niyas visited her house and had recorded the statement of Thulasi Bhai. In addition to the murder charge, more than six other sections, including dowry harassment and causing grievous bodily harm with a knife or weapon, have been charged against Satheesh.
