DUBAI: Flight services from Dubai have been cancelled due to the escalation of Iran-US tensions. With this, hundreds of Malayalis, including prominent singer Biju Narayanan, who were about to return home, are stranded at the Dubai airport. Biju Narayanan told the media that the pilot informed the passengers about the cancellation of the flight after they had been on the plane for about an hour and a half for the journey to Kochi.
Biju Narayanan clarified that there was no information about the conflict or the cancellation of the flight while boarding the flight. "The situation outside became clear through the news while I was inside the plane. 90 percent of the passengers on the plane were Malayalis. All of them were later deplaned," the singer revealed.
The airport is currently expected to remain closed until 12 midnight. All flights from Dubai have been temporarily suspended for safety reasons. Biju Narayanan added that it is still unclear when they will be able to return home.
The Dubai Media Office said the current restrictions prioritise the safety of both locals and expatriates. Air traffic has been affected by restrictions imposed on airspace in the region following the Iranian attack.
