AHMEDABAD: Rescue operations are ongoing on the plane that crashed soon after taking off from Ahmedabad in Gujarat. The visuals from the crash site have emerged. Firefighters and locals can be seen trying to extinguish the fire and the debris scattered at the crash site can be seen in the video. The plane is in a burnt state. Smoke is bellowing in the area and this is affecting rescue operations. The plane crashed in the Meghani area near the airport within five minutes of taking off.

An Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft that took off from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Gujarat at 1.39 pm today crashed in Meghani nagar. Since the accident occurred in a residential area, the extent of the disaster is beyond expectations.

According to the DGCA, there were 242 people on board the plane, including two pilots and 10 cabin crew members. Of the passengers, 53 were British nationals. There were 169 Indians, seven Portuguese and one Canadian. Children were also among the victims. It is not clear how many people died or how many were injured in the disaster. Around 200 fire units have been deployed for the rescue operations.
