BENGALURU: Tragedy struck newlyweds just hours after their marriage when the husband fatally stabbed his wife before succumbing to his injuries. The incident occurred yesterday in Chambarasanahalli village, KGF, Kolar district, Karnataka.

Nineteen-year-old Likhita and 27-year-old Naveen died in the attack. Likhita, from Bynapalli, Andhra Pradesh, and Naveen, from Chambarasanahalli, had been in a relationship for a long time and married on Wednesday morning in KGF with their families' consent. After the wedding, they returned to Naveen’s family home. Following some time with relatives, the couple went to their room.

A commotion was soon heard from inside the room, accompanied by screams. Relatives rushed to open the door but were unsuccessful. Through a window, they saw Naveen attacking Likhita with a knife. After breaking down the door, they found Likhita severely injured and Naveen also wounded. Both were taken to the hospital, where Likhita was pronounced dead on arrival. Naveen, who was critically injured, received emergency treatment but died the next day.

The police have not yet determined the motive behind the attack or how Naveen acquired the knife. Investigations are ongoing under the leadership of KGF SP Shantharaju.
