Man arrested for stealing and selling personal data of 70 crore citizens from 24 states

HYDERABAD: Amid the rising online fraud cases in the country, the Cyberabad police have arrested a man who collected and sold the personal data of 70 crore people. It was also found that he illegally leaked the information of several organizations. Vinay Bharadwaj is the accused.

He possessed the data of millions of students from the database of educational platforms. The accused also collected user data from the portals of GST and MVD, social media and e-commerce websites.

The data possessed from various sections of the society like government officials, defense personnel PAN card holders, electricity consumers in Delhi, NEET students, credit card-debit card holders and school students were put up for sale. The police also found that he was selling the collected information through a website. The police recovered two mobile phones and two laptops from the accused.
