CHENNAI: Nainar Nagendran has filed his nomination for the Tamil Nadu BJP state president post. He is the only candidate and is expected to be declared the president tomorrow. Current state president K Annamalai, along with Vanathi Srinivasan, H Raja, and Pon Radhakrishnan, have expressed their support for him.
The BJP's notification for the state president's post required candidates to have been party workers for at least 10 years. This condition initially seemed to pose a challenge for Nainar Nagendran, who joined the party in 2017. However, the party's central leadership granted him an exception.
The EPS-led AIADMK exited the NDA alliance due to disagreements with Annamalai. There are signs that Nainar Nagendran, as BJP chief, might bring the party back into the AIADMK alliance. Amit Shah, currently in Chennai, has been holding discussions with the AIADMK leadership regarding the alliance.
