SRIHARIKOTA: The world’s most expensive Earth observation satellite, NISAR (NASA–ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar Satellite), has been successfully launched. The launch took place at around 5:40 PM from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. NISAR is a joint satellite developed by NASA and ISRO.
The GSLV‑F16 rocket successfully placed the satellite into orbit. This is the first time NASA and ISRO have collaborated on such a mission. 'And we have liftoff! GSLV-F16 has successfully launched with NISAR onboard,' ISRO announced on X, confirming the mission’s success. ISRO Chairman Dr. V. Narayanan said this launch marks a major milestone in taking India to a leadership position in satellite technology.
