Teacher chased down, beaten by parents of class two student; video goes viral

CHENNAI: A teacher was chased down and beaten by the parents of a class II student. The incident took place in Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu. The parents of the child, Sivalingam and Selvi, assaulted Bharat, a teacher of an aided school, for allegedly beating their child. The couple has been arrested by the police.

Sivalingam and Selvi reached the school after the child complained that the teacher had beaten him. They went into the classroom and started beating the teacher. When he tried to escape, stones were hurled at him. The footage of the incident is circulating on social media.

Selvi can be heard asking 'who gave you the authority to beat the child?" and also threatened to hit him with footwear. Other teachers tried to save Bharat but the couple refused to back down. Then the other teachers recorded the footage and reported it to the police. The police also arrested the boy's grandfather Munisamy in connection with the incident.

But the teacher has denied the allegation that he beat the child. Bharat said that he only rearranged the seating of the student as he was unnecessarily speaking with other children and fighting inside the classroom.
