The quotation gang attacked Muhammadali by stopping his car on the Dubai Road side of the Koottanad-Cheruthuruthy route while he was on his way to the Kochi airport.

The police's initial conclusion is that the quotation was a dispute over a financial transaction. Muhammadali told his relatives that the quotation team had told him about a financial transaction of Rs 17 crore. Relatives say that the case in this regard is under consideration in the court.

The attackers arrived wearing masks. They followed the car from the main road and stopped it when it reached an empty place. Later, they broke into the car and abducted Muhammadali at gunpoint. Muhammadali escaped from the secret hideout in Ottapalam Pathamkulam area when the quotation team got drunk and passedout. It was the locals who took Muhammadali to the hospital with injuries. The quotation team has not been caught. The police have registered a case in the incident and have started an investigation.
